vakulamatha temple in tirupati
Sri Vakulamatha Temple was built about 300 years ago and is located on a hillock in Peruru 5 km from the temple city Tirupati, Andhra Pradesh. Earlier the first pooja was performed here, then the pooja started at the main temple in Tirumala, later while Hyder Ali and Tippu Sulthan invaded Chandra Giri, this temple faced its share of spoils and plunder, and the temple became nonfunctional and lost its former glory.Vakula Devi is Sri Venkateswara’s adoptive mother. In the past, Yasoda Devi raised Sri Vishnu in the incarnated form of Sri Krishna and, not completely satisfied to see his presence, wished him to continue for some time. He granted her wish in a blessing saying that in another incarnation he would fulfill her wish. In accordance with this boon, Sri Maha Vishnu in the form of Sri Srinivasa now made her happy. Yashoda Devi, born as Vakulamata, enjoyed his presence while serving him.
